Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor
When trying to install software the administration application does not load to
allow the installation. It happens randomly whether I use the add/remove
application or install directly from a downloaded file. Sometimes everything
works fine and other times it just wont ever get to the point of asking my
password to install. The add/remove application is just sitting there waiting
for the administration application to validate the password. I have to
physically turn off power to try again. Yesterday it happened when I tried to
install updates. Today, updates worked fine but I am trying to install 7zip and
gstreamer plug ins for MP3 support. I installed that on my other computer
without trouble at all.
I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 - the Hardy Heron
Intel Celeron 633MHz, 256MB ram
