Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal
The program 'sshd' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install openssh-server bash: sshd: command not found The error message itself is good as it tells users how to recover from the error. >From a usability point of view it is bad to tell people to do things the >computer could (should) do - hence the solution for all this would sound like >this: The program 'sshd' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: sudo apt-get install openssh-server anytime. Would you like to run "sudo apt-get install openssh-server" now? (Y/n) This might save about 33 key strokes in this case (vs. Y & return which are 2) - this is really a big gain in efficiency Cheers Peter ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Thu May 29 10:23:17 2008 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.04 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/gnome-terminal NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: gnome-terminal 2.22.1-0ubuntu2 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcEnviron: PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gnome-terminal Uname: Linux 2.6.24-17-generic i686 ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug -- open source usability - installing sshd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
