You have been subscribed to a public bug:
When a new user is created and that user logs in the fast-user-switch-applet is
created on the panel regardless of the installation state of the
fast-user-switch-applet package. Hence when the package is not installed and a
newly created user logs in an exception is thrown immediately reporting:
The panel encountered a problem while loading
"OAFIID:GNOME_FastUserSwitchApplet".
Do you want to delete the applet from your configuration?
I'd like to know if this is a bug or it is deliberately set this way
because the fast-user-switch-applet is part of the ubuntu-desktop.
I've been looking for the configuration or template that is used when the panel
is created and haven't been able to find anything other than these:
/usr/share/gconf/defaults/05_panel-default-setup.entries
/etc/gconf/schemas/panel-default-setup.entries
As far as I can tell these files contain the default values for the
fast-user-switch-applet when it is added, but unable to find a script or
a template that controls what needs to be added to the panel.
I'd appreciate some comments on where to look further.
Thanks,
Karoly
