You have been subscribed to a public bug:
I log in as my main userid. Accessing virtual consoles and returning to gdm via
Alt-F7 is ok.
Then I switch user.
I can still access a virtual console, but Alt-F7 to go back to gdm leads to a
blank black screen with a mouse pointer visible.
I killed X ctrl-alt-backspace to relogin
Second experiment.
I logged in. Then I switched user.
Then I logged out of the user session I switched to.
blank screen, and this time I could not get to a virtual terminal. When trying
to access a virtual terminal, I saw only a blank white screen. killing X does
not help any more.
I have 8.04 with proposed updates.
