Ubuntu logs out unexpectedly and randomly. Immediately after this happens, I
get a black screen, where I can see that the logout sequence starts, but gets
stuck after checking the battery. It doesn`t respond to any key or key
combination, except for Ctrl-Alt-Delete, and in this case, it stops GNOME and
restarts the computer.
My operating system is Ubuntu Hardy. When I first encountered this problem,
about ten days ago, I had done an upgrade from Gutsy. Now, after formatting my
hard disc, and doing a clean install of Hardy, the problem persists. As far as
I can say, it has nothing to do with any internet browser, media player,, and
sometimes it happens when I try to do something really simple, like copy and
paste text.
What is more, if two users are logged in the computer (so the first has used
the "switch user" option), when this happens, ubuntu logs out the current user,
and asks for the password of the first, which means that something crashes, and
GNOME is forced to log out.
The problem appears to happen randomly, and even if only one simple program
like latex editor is running.
I have never had this problem before, after using Hardy since its release, and
it started taking place after some updates (I have applied all the updates), so
I would suspect that something is wrong there.
Let me know if you need any more information.

Thank you.
