I've been trying dellLcdBrightness for a while. It doesn't matter if I
enter the correct BIOS password or not ("dellLcdBrightness -a -v 1" or
"dellLcdBrightness -a -v 1 -p <password>"). My D420 still acts as if it
was locked.

Removing BIOS password works perfectly for me.
