Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: evolution
System (Hardy) crashed while doing an update.
When running the update again evolution was reported as a broken package, which
could be fixed through synaptic.
Rerunning the update manger always leads to errors when trying to
configure the said packages.
There are lots of gconftool-2 Errors: GConf-CRITICAL **: Failed to load file
The problem seems to be that the xml files in /var/lib/gconf/defaults are empty
running dpkg --configure -a
gives series of messages like
/usr/share/gconf/schemas/apps-evolution-attachment-reminder.schemas:1:
parser error : Document is empty
^
/usr/share/gconf/schemas/apps-evolution-attachment-reminder.schemas:1: parser
error : Start tag expected, '<' not found
dpkg-reconfigure does not help either
Evolution cannot be executed. (Luckily I do not use it)
Every update now gives out errors because the evolution packages cannot be
configured.
