Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: yelp
My first attempt at a bug report, please let me know what else you need.
I am running Ubuntu 8.04 completely updated as of 7/13/08.
I have a Linksys WUSB11 v2.8 wireless adapter to connect to my router
for the internet.
Through trial and error I have discovered that this adapter will not
work (although it does show up in ubuntu under Network) unless I have
enabled DHCP on the built in NIC/Ethernet port on my motherboard also.
So, to sum up.
1. My wusb11 v2.8 wireless adapter will NOT connect to the internet
unless:
2. In System - Admin - Network I go in there and change the setting for
my built in NIC/Ethernet port that is on my motherboard, from Roaming to
DHCP, then and only then will my wireless work.
3. Note, my wireless connection is also DHCP with a WEP 128 security
key.
4. Last note, my built in NIC/ethernet on my motherboard, does not have
a cord plugged into it at all.
Please let me know if you need any further information.
