I turned on my computer today and the panels on the top and bottom of
the screen are both gone. I have found a solution to this problem on
the Ubuntu help forums, but cannot try it because it requires the use of
a terminal. Since I do not have a launcher for the terminal on my
desktop and the alt-f2 command no longer works without the panel. I
have rebooted the system three times now, including soft and hard boots
to no avail.
My computer is a Dell m1530, processor 2.4 ghz, memory 3gb, graphics
card nvidia 512mb, I am running Hardy Heron 8.04. Please let me know if
you require more information.
