Description:
This has been a recurring problem since Warty. It seems to fix and unfix
itself from month to month in development.
Basically, if you zap the X server with CTRL+ALT+BKSP, often times GDM
will not spring back up a login screen. GDM is still running, and
killing it with HUP brings the login screen back.
This does not happen with any other display manager.
