I can confirm this. I had experienced this problem before. I do not remeber it happening before upgrading from breezy to dapper.
When I download the file linked in the original report, http://handofka.tehomgz.net/sky/vulak.avi , the same thing happened. Opening from the terminal works fine, but opening through nautilus causes the player to crash. I tried totem-xine, xine-ui, and gxine and all crash after opening with nautilus but play fine through the terminal. If I try mplayer, it plays the file fine both opened through the terminal and through nautilus. This only happens however with wmv9 encoded files (the .avi file provided is also wmv9). I tried several other formats, including wmv8 and wmv7, and none of those had this behavior. The version for libxine-main1 that I have is 1.1.1+ubuntu2-6 and I am using current dapper beta (April 24 2006). I can proved the backtrace provided by bug buddy as well, if someone can tell me whether it is ok to clutter the comments here or if there is a better way. ** Changed in: totem totem-xine (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed -- Opening a file causes totem to crash https://launchpad.net/bugs/37087 -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
