Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron
evince version 2.22.2-0ubuntu1

I would expect that whenever I reload a document in evince, the document
window should remain in exactly the same place. This should be true for
pressing ctrl-R, for pressing the "view PDF" button in lyx, or for
closing evince and reopening the same file using the command line or
file browser.

What happens in all of these cases is that the window moves slightly
down and to the right, unless it was already at the bottom or right edge
of the screen. (In the case where evince is closed and reopened, it
reappears slightly below and to the right of where it was.)

The distance to the right is equal to the width of the window border,
and the distance it moves down equals the height of the title bar.
Changing the window theme affects the distance the window moves. The
problem does not occur when System -> Preferences -> Appearance ->
Visual Effects is set to "None".
