I searched for "netbeans" because I wanted to delete it.  There were 600
files.  I selected all and pressed delete once.  Some small windows
popped up but didn't complete drawing.  Gnome froze and wouldn't
respond.

I believe what happens is that Nautilus tries to open 600 "do you want
to delete?" and/or "you don't have permission to delete?" windows when
it should only display one at a time.

Windows Explorer for instance will try to delete one file at a time,
displaying one dialog for each file, and if the file has a problem the
problem is displayed.  It doesn't try to show hundreds or thousands of
windows.
