Actually, this might be related to something else. I installed ubuntu with Dvorak as my default layout, but recently went back to qwerty after breaking one of my wrists; anyway I noticed that even though I'm typing in qwerty when on the console I have to access the control codes as though I were using dvorak, so CTRL+I to kill a program instead of CTRL+C. So, sound-juicer might be suffering the same problem.
