Sorry, I meant to respond when I received a new iPod. My old one was always glitchy in iTunes, also. It eventually stopped working altogether and I received a new one from the folks at Apple.
Rhythmbox has always been a little hesitant to work with the Classic, due to all that encrypted firmware. If any bugs very much annoy me, I'll let you know. But lately I've just been syncing with iTunes on my Windows partition. Sorry for the lack of input, I've been very busy.
