Public bug reported:

For the last several weeks (since about Alpha 4) I've been getting
frequent lock-ups of the gnome desktop with the following symptoms
(2.6.27-2-generic #1 SMP x86_64 on a Sony Vaio VGN-CR120E) :

* No response from keyboard, including ctrl-alt-f1, ctrl-alt-backspace, etc.
* Mouse is locked up.
* Caps lock and scroll lock LEDs flash at approximately one second interval.
* Only way to restart is to hold down power button until system shuts off, then
power back on.

Prior to this (since Alpha 1) gnome has never locked up like this on my
hardware.

I usually have Firefox running and often have run update manager to get
the latest updates. Tonight when it locked up I was also connected to
another system via Remote Desktop Viewer.

There are no crash files in /var/crash aside from the usual
_usr_bin_gnome-power-manager* (which seems to be well reported). Also
Firefox got really unstable at about the same time (and I've seen lots
of reports of this so won't post another).

I don't have any clue what the correct package should be or what would
be useful information, but I attached today's /var/log/syslog in case it
can point to a cause. If someone can give me some instructions on
gathering more helpful info now (or next time it locks up) I would be
glad to do so. Thanks!
