I can confirm the no-redrawing problem. Apparently it is caused by the fact that when you first open totem, the "Show visual effects" setting is on but the "type of visualisation" field is blank. Setting the type of visualisation field or disabling visual effects makes the problem go away. So I guess the problem is with the default configuration. BTW, I don't think that this bug's severity should be "wishlist".
