Really sorry, but I switched computers and started using Fedora.
However, the movie player on Fedora does not include a built-in
capability to play Windows media files.  The Ubuntu version does include
that capability.  Something clearly got "torched," but it's impossible
to replicate because the circumstances that lead to the original problem
are unknown.  Since Ubuntu does not allow for the removal and reloading
of the movie player, it been hard to re-baseline the system.  I think
the best thing would be to send out an update version of movie player to
the distributors that will remove and reload the current totem version.
