If this is an issue with nautilus, should it be sent upstream.  I use breezy 
but I find the listing of unmounted filesystems in the sidebar ridiculous.

The default behavior of gnome is this:
If a cd is inserted, camera plugged in, etc, the volume gets mounted 
automatically and a dialog pops up asking what to do (open, etc).

So there is no need for an alternative method of opening (mounting and 
browsing) an UNmounted volume as this functionality already exists by default 
(autorun).  At the very least, there should be an option in gconf-editor to 
change this behavior.
