You have been subscribed to a public bug:
when I issue the command:
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop
to stop the gnome display manager it all seems to be working fine until
I get to the line that reads:
running local boot scripts (/etc/rc.local)
where it hangs. I've left it sitting there thinking for a few minutes
before I go into the terminal mode by pushing:
<cntrl> + <alt> + <F1>
and reboot the system.
Any idea on what the issue could be?
