Eventually I found out, that the error message was correct. The database simply was corrupt, perhaps as a result of an update where the backup was from Ubuntu 7,10 to Ubuntu 8.04. I simply erased the old database from ~/.gnome2/f-spot, and then restarted f-spot. So the bug is solved, after all i was'nt a bug... rgds.
