Running the command alone results in the same error (there's nothing
written on DVD disk).

The drive itself behaves strange - for a minute or two head goes back
and forward inside the DVD. Blank DVD disk itself is recognized
correctly and it does work on Windows; sometimes it takes some time,
probably due to fact that Linux leaves the drive in undefined state
which after soft reset, renders the drive unusable (partly).
