I am also having this problem on a Dell Inspiron 1525n with Hardy 8.04.1 LTS.
My laptop hibernates just fine (using uswsusp), and resumes perfectly, although gnome-power-manager throws this error at me in user.log: Oct 5 16:43:55 Atreides gnome-power-manager: (greyor) hibernate failed I hope this is fixed in Intrepid. I can always click the "Don't show me this again" button, but I am hesitant to do so in case there is actually an error that occurs.
