I'm marking 'Invalid' against ecryptfs-utils, and adding a task against
gconf2.
ecryptfs-utils has nothing to do with the desktop icon. It simply
establishes a mount point. The desktop then adds icons for dynamic
mounts. Perhaps the desktop team has a way to blacklist the ~/Private
mountpoint?
To the question about automounting on login, that is a key design point.
You can change this deleting ~/.ecryptfs/auto-mount.
