Just a quick note: 

Quoting the upstream bug:

"When logging out of gnome the fadeout is often
choppy and gives users a bad impression gnome's
performance charateristics."

I don't think getting psychedelic colours every time you log out of GNOME gives 
a better impression of GNOME...

This is even quite noticeable with the default Dapper background, at least on 
my system. I don't know if that's driver-dependent -I've got an nvidia graphics 
card using the nvidia driver.

Anyway, that's not a rant or anything, just trying to get some extra polish for 
this great distro. Kudos for the developer who submitted the patch, but it is 
still not working properly IMHO. The impression that you get when you log out 
of ubuntu is that the OS is somehow unfinished or not very professional. And 
yes, I know we are still beta...
