As for skype there is not much we can do. As it's an external package we can't even provide a wrapper script that does the LD_PRELOAD trick. In my opinion it's not important as we should spend our effort improving free software, but if anyone uses skype and wants to ensure that it will work with their webcam in Intrepid they may want to ensure skype are aware of the problem.
