ACER aspire one with intrepid ibix 8.10 beta with all latest updates
gnome-power-manager is generating excessive interrupts and keeping the
processor out of C3 power-save state. The applet appears to be calling a
function called do_nanosleep that is generating the activity. Killing
gnome-power-manger paradoxically reduces power consumption
Steps to reproduce
1. install intrepid ibix beta on acer aspire one
2. apt-get install powertop
3. boot machine to desktop, open terminal and run sudo powertop
4. Observe interupt rate of approximately 20-400 per sec being generated by
gnome-power-manager whilst on battery power
5. use killall -9 gnome-power-manager
6. Interrupts reduce to one every few seconds and power consumption drops by 1
W due to machine staying in C3 state for longer
** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
