I am running Ubuntu 8.04.1. I created a custom application launcher on
one of my panels with the location pointing to a file on a Windows
share. The launcher worked as expected by opening the file (an HTML
file) in Firefox. After I rebooted I tried again, but all that happened
was a 1px green outline went around the outside of my screen and
everything but the mouse froze. I had to go to tty1 via Ctrl-Alt-F1 to
restart. If I drag the launcher to the desktop and open it from there,
it works fine.
