Hello all!

I am using Ubuntu Hardy Heron (installed when it was still beta), on an
"ACER Aspire 5102WLMi" laptop.

Laptop information:

$ sudo dmidecode -s system-manufacturer && sudo dmidecode -s system-
product-name && sudo dmidecode -s system-version

Acer
Aspire 5100
V2.40

The problem is that I cannot increase the bright normaly when I am in
Gnome. If I increase the bright at maximun at login screen (gdm) or
during the boot, the screen brights at maximum. If I change the bright
during the previous situations, I can return to raise it to the maximum.

When I'm in Gnome (and "gnome-power-manager" is working), if previously
I have put the bright to the maximum, then it remains at 100%. On the
other hand, if I push the bright-down key (Fn+Left) or the bright-up key
(Fn+Right), the lcd panel can be only at 70% of bright at maximun.

When I do the previous, I cannot increase the bright to 100 % until I
return to the login screen (gdm) or during the system-boot.

If I put in the console the following...

$ killall gnome-power-manager

... The problem disappears and already I can change the bright normaly
even being in Gnome.

I leave more information, it could be helpfull:

$ cat /proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD/brightness
Levels: 70 40 0 10 20 30 40 50 60 70
current: 70

As you can see, the maximum value is 70. And the current, yet having
"gnome-power-manager" disabled and with the bright at maximun, stays at
"70".

This also was happening in Gutsy.

PS: Sorry, but my english isn't the best.

Goodbye!
