Keyboard not working properly - Ubuntu 8.10 I recently upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10 using the built in package manager upgrade. The arrow keys, PgUp/Down and some more like PrintScreen are not working (the right way). I have tried using different keyboards and keyboard layouts but nothing seems to work. This was no issue with 8.04. (taken party from: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/47860 ) Affected systems are f.e. IBM ThinkPad T43 and Dell Vostro 1500. One quick and dirty solution is to execute: "$ setxkbmap -model evdev" After xorg has started as user. (eventually as session-entry though) (refering to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=897367 ) Launching this as root doesn't work, because it is missing a running xorg for root of course. So every user being the first one using xorg after boot must execute the command. Not practicable this way for multiuser-systems. :-( Thanks in advance for resolving this. ** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Keyboard is missing arrows an PgUp/Down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/283336 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
