If this is an upstream choice, it's a very very BAD choice! This worked very well in Ubuntu 8.04.1, and now in Ibex it isn't comfortable to use. If developers wouldn't like to fix this, give a workaround or an option to restore the old functionality. If developers change everything familiar function what the users using everyday, the things are going the wrong way with gnome... Thanks!
