Same problem here with the same drive PX-716A Note - the audio CD trick only works here for DVDs which are ISO9660. Like those given away with magazines.
udf disks only mount with the full mount -t udf /dev/hda /media/cdrom0 command. I have the same / similar issue with a Plextor DVD-ROM PX-116A except that the audio CD trick doesn't work.
