The file I attempted to open in gedit 2.24.0:
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15687 2008-10-28 13:29 options.php
Tried opening through Konqueror (v4.1.2), Dolphin (v1.1), and nautilus
(v2.24.1), all with the same result. Logged in as the root user for
each. Please help!
