I hope help you but i don't know how to reproduce this problem. I haven't specific program i think or system configuration. The ATI driver is the free radeon driver. I don't install the non-free driver because the free driver work very fine on intrepid (very good news). Perhaps this is the driver who make problem. I have the problem directly after the installation of intrepid with no additional programs.
When I turn on computer panel are ok, just open one or two window on a desktop and do the same on other desktop. Play switching between desktop to reproduce the problem. The problem is not " automatic ". sometimes no refresh and sometimes the refresh is ok. If I weel understand your last question (I'm french). Yes, i can the panels when i get the problem. With panels no refresh all works good, i can clic anywhere on the panel this is working. The only problem is : i don't see where i clicking because all is grey.
