This is an issue, using 8.10 on a ThinkPad X60s laptop.
When running on battery, controlling screen brightness is a problem.
Often when pressing the Fn+{Home,End} there will be a delay of a few
seconds before it reacts to the key being pressed.
In addition, the screen will slowly dim and then brighten again, on its
own without any sort of user input.
A third sympton of something wrong (which might be unrelated) is that a
square on the screen when running on battery will not update. The square
is always on the same position on the screen. After a minute or so, the
square will update again.
None of these problems existed on 8.04.
I thought this might have been an issue with gnome-power-manager, but I
am now no longer sure. I mistakenly this issue as a ticket (with bug-
buddy) to the Gnome ticketing system as
