Hmmm while that may be true on a slow network, this UI bug is still a bug -- the user is given no indication why the behavior would be different. My network must be better than yours, I burn ISO's from shared drives all the time on Windows (successfully) ;-)
Now that I look into it more, I also see that the "Open Archive" and "Extract Here" context items are also missing. Those come from File Roller. The network shares don't seem well integrated yet, even though they've been part of gnome-vfs and nautilus for many versions now.
