Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution
If evolution is running for some time (hours+) its memory usage will grow beyond what seems reasonable -- i.e. if it runs overnight, it will reach 2GB. Once physical RAM is full, it will silently exit. I'm not sure if this is a dupe of #185197, #222263, #115498, and/or #280949 so I've opened it separately just in case. I'm on an up-to-date Intrepid system with evolution pkgs 2.24.1-0ubuntu3. I should mention that I'm using the Intrepid evolution packages with minor patch applied (from bug #275746). This bug was occurring well before using the patched version, however. I'm not sure exactly what causes/exacerbates this. I do know that I can open evolution and do *nothing* and it will still happen, so it's not dependent on hitting send/receive, writing emails, or anything else "active". I have 3-4 mail accounts which are auto-checked every 5-10 mins, and one USENET server checked with about the same frequency. I have installed the evolution-dbg package and run Valgrind as recommended at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind -- the resulting log is attached. In the session which it represents, I simply opened evolution, sent & received maybe 5-10 emails, and then closed it. I am happy to perform any further tests that are necessary to diagnose this -- just let me know! ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Evolution uses absurd amount of memory https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298882 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
