Hi,
When I boot Ubuntu 8.4 I get black login screen. I can hear the Ubuntu
start music but screen remains black. If I type my username and password
I can hear that the login is completed and desk top should be present
"behind" the black screen.
I tried using "vesa" drivers. But this does not help and the symptoms
remain similar.
If I press alt+F1 I get to normal terminal login screen. And the funny
part is that sometimes when I press alt+F7 I get to the normal login
screen or desktop if I entered my credentials.
Similarly weird behavior is that if I fall back into recovery mode and
select continue loading I sometimes (1 out of 4) get directly into
working login screen without the need to go into terminal screen.
I am writing this bug using one of the above "workarounds".
I think that this is related to some initialization and in what order
xserver wakes up the screen.
