Thank you for your bug report. Is this issue present when booting the
LiveCD? Could you try the Xubuntu Desktop CD, which is the live cd?
Also, could you please boot up in single-user-mode ("recovery mode" from
GRUB) and select "Fix X" (or something similar) and see if this solves
your issue?

Do you have any proprietary drivers installed?

What video card do you have? You can use lspci -vvn in a terminal or in
Ctrl+Alt+F2 to find out. Ctrl+Alt+F7 gets you back to the graphical
login/desktop screen.
