You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Ubuntu 8.10, fully up-to-date.
I record all my classes in audio; I spend a good two hours a day average
running gnome-sound-recorder.
..I also type up all my notes, of course, and use firefox to make sure I have
course materials and communicate with fellow students and instructors. Often
times, I'll leave my laptop power supply at home because I don't think I need
it. I'm very glad I didn't do that a few days ago. I was sitting in Ethics,
and touched my trackpad and glanced at my battery icon-- to my shock, it was
down to orange, when it still should easily have been green. I watched it a
few seconds and it turned red. I then noticed that one core of my CPU was
being maxed out. ..I came to find that gnome-sound-recorder was doing it.
When I stop recording, CPU utilization drops back down to normal.
The attached screenshot is unmodified.
Now, I usually boot into 8.04.1 before leaving for classes because of
things like this, but I may use 8.10 to try to pin down this bug by
using gdb and whatnot. I'd just like to first demonstrate that this bug
exists and ask for a bit of guidance with this bug.
