Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus
I have the latest (at 19 Dec 2008) updated IBEX 8.10 - kernel linux2.6.27.9 generic gnome 2.24.1 but also with KDE (probably 4.4.1.3 - which apps I run in Gnome) Nautilus is 1.2.24.1-0ubuntu On startup, the desktop appearance is usually the (correct) standard Ubuntu orange Gnome. However sometimes it istarts in KDE which has slightly different toolbar icons and blue folder Icons, but works fine. Other times it starts Gnome but the desktop image is displayed but with no folder or disk icons displayed (although both toolbar and apps bar are displayed correctly and I can still find files using the 'places' dropdown). Rebooting usually results in the same wrong configuration. Switch off and cool down generally works, but both take time. I did find a post with a Linux command to fix this for the session which was something like 'stop nautilus' but I can not now find it again or remember what it was. (I am an experienced user, but no IT training or skill) The system has to be shut down every night, and this effect has been occuring two or three times a week for about one month or so. This is not a serious bug but quite annoying because Ubuntu does more than a 'proper computer' that jeering colleagues urge me to buy (although nobody seems to have a good word for Vista). ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- IBEX desktop random appearance changes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309715 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
