Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
I am using Intrepid. When I change the desktop effects from none to
Normal or Extra, the system tries to automatically install the
restricted ATI drivers. I does not ask me about it, it does not warn me
about it, it just proceeds.
I think there is no connection between desktop effects and using a
restricted driver, so there should at least be a warning that the system
is about to do something totally unrelated.
Moreover, on my Dell Inspiron 1526, the desktop effects only work *with*
the open source driver. So in order to enable desktop effects, I have to
click "Cancel" fast enough to actually get the effects enabled.
** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
