Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evince

Attempting to view any pdf (or simply running "evince" without arguments)
causes evince to crash immediately without opening a window.
I suspected I had a bad dotfile somewhere in my home directory, so I created a
fresh account on the same box and tried viewing a pdf, and had similar results.

I am using ubuntu 8.10 on x86_64 and am running the binary-only ATI video
driver.
Evince version is 2.24-1_0ubuntu1
