All was working fine, I had removed and reinstalled Evolution due to
problems connecting with Exchange Server. Upon reboot the login and
Password boxes appeared ok then I just got the background screen they
sit on with nothing at all on it.
I went to fail safe gnome and it auto swithced to fail-safe terminal. I
am using apport-cli -f --package xorg to report this and the firefox
page has opened.
I don't want to reinstall until I manage to at least back up, on the
network or to CD/DVD, files in Documents, Downloads and desktop. Booting
from the CD won't allow this.
