Firefox is where i first noticed it but it seems to be prevalent -
almost every package i try has the same lack of information. If it
happened with one package and not another then i would have noticed it
sooner and written the bug report to that particular package. The fact
that you haven't noticed it and don't understand what i'm describing
suggests it's a minor issue and doesn't behave differently in other
packages either.

Compare and contrast with what happens in Synaptic package manager where
it clearly shows in the status-bar how much space will be taken up with
the new package. Or compare with other file-browsers such as Windows
explorer where again it shows how much space the file will take up in
the grey border near the Save button.

Clearly Explorer is quite inferior but in some little features like this
it seems quite far ahead. Nautilus could perhaps leap-frog into the
lead by also showing the amount of empty space left in the location the
file is about to be saved to, something that i havent noticed in any
other file-browser, yet.
