Public bug reported:
Trying to raise process priority in gnome-system-monitor crashes the
program with the following terminal output:
The program 'gnome-system-monitor' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.
(Details: serial 34373 error_code 8 request_code 1 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Lowering process priority in gnome-system-monitor works fine, though.
With the renice command I can successfully change priority in both directions.
During the crash, the "Starting administrative application" message shortly
appears in the task list, but the actual password prompt never shows.
If the sudo password has been entered before, the message doesn't show upon
crashing.
I'm running Intrepid. Gnome-system-monitor is at version
2.24.1-0ubuntu1.
The bug occurs on both of my PCs, both of which are Pentium4s.
