A very annoying brightness bug in 8.10 beta release. The following are
the symptoms:
1. When I press Fn+Home/End to increase/decrease brightness, the brightness
applet does not appear for atlease 15-20 secs
2. After changing the brightness, the screen progressively goes darker
3. Pressing the Fn+Home key to adjust brightness is very intermittent, sometime
it works, sometime it does not work
What I expect to happen:
a) Brightness to be adjusted automatically to preset brightness when laptop
does not have AC power
b) Fn+Home/End to adjust brightness to function in a stable fashion. It
worked well in 8.04
c) brightness chaging applet to be responsive
d) in 8.04, i hardly used these function keys. With 8.10 this is so annoying
that I am unable to work with no power cord
