Binary package hint: vinagre
When trying to connect to a Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.x) with Remote
Management and VNC enabled, Vinagre immediately states that the
connection was broken before prompting for the password. Trying to
connect using TightVNC on Windows without compression nor additional
features enabled works without problems. Ubuntu 8.04.1.
