Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Turn on compiz, start gedit, and the gedit window is totally blank
(toolbar, menubar, tabbar is not shown). But you can click on the
menubar/toolbar although it is not visible, and it responds
accordingly... When you maximize the gedit window, or when you minimize
then restore the gedit window, the invisible menubar/toolbar becomes
visible.

This malbehavior only occurs when compiz is on.
