I have created a set of JPEG images for which the thumbnails are not
displayed correctly by Nautilus (2.24.2) when viewed in icons or list
mode. Also in 2 cases the image collection tool bar in Eye of Gnome.
Each image has a long horizontal axis and short vertical axis.
In Nautilus they are displayed either as default jpeg image
(IMAGE-VIEW-0050-001 & 3), or as an outline round empty image file
(IMAGE-VIEW-0050-004 & 5). Only the image with a vertical axis of 75 pixels (by
3069) is displayed correctly.
Within EOG only the 2 images with a the vertical axis smaller than 12 are not
displayed.
The images can not always be opened with EOG from the file manager,
normally OK the first time. If EOG is opened from the Applications menu
without loading an image then they can be viewed repeatedly.
The images were created with image editors Irfanview (4.2), GIMP (2.6)
and Photodesk (RISCOS application running under Windows emulator) in
WIndows XP. All thumbnails were displayed correctly in Windows XP.
In Nautilus also observed that thumbnail of jpeg file with long vertical
axis and short horizontal axis is not displayed correctly (IMAGE-
VIEW-0040-001)
Running under Ubuntu 8.10
How to reproduce
1. Copy the 7 attached jpeg files into a new folder
2. Open Nautilis file manager and navigate to folder
3. Set view to Icons (jpeg thumbnails not displayed correctly?)
3. Select any image and Open using Eye of GNOME
